Although a US citizen, born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Nelson has been active for the past several decades in helping to attract businesses and investment to the Dominican Republic. A founder of Dorado Realty CA, Nelson's expertise specializes in industrial relocation and tourist development.

Nelson earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the (UPR) University Puerto Rico.
